eMEDIX now accepts claims and attachments for worker's comp and auto

We’re excited to announce that eMEDIX now accepts claims and attachments for workers' comp and auto.

As with other claim attachments, the only prerequisite is that you have contracted for the Attachments feature of the eMEDIX Claims Management option.

How To:

To start using this new path, follow these steps when submitting workers' compensation and automobile medical claims:

  • From your practice management system, ensure that all workers’ comp and auto claims will route to eMEDIX
  • Refer to the eMEDIX Payer List to determine the correct Payer Code
  • Send the correct claim filing indicator
    • WC = Workers' Compensation
    • AM = Automobile Medical
  • Add a Property and Casualty Claim Number to either the Subscriber Loop (2010AB) or Dependent Loop (2010CA)
    • If this information is missing, eMEDIX will edit your claim
  • Add the filename of any attachment to PWK06 in the PWK (paperwork) segment
    • If there is no attachment, eMEDIX is required to send an empty attachment (you will not be charged for it)
  • Upload your attachments to eMEDIX via eMEDIX Online—Claims Connection
  • For New York clients, adhere to the additional requirements of the New York Workers' Comp Board (NY WCB)
    • Any provider submitting NY WC claims who has NOT already completed the agreement for XML (electronic) submission to the WCB will need to do so prior to August 1, or the bills will be rejected by the WCB. The following link to the WCB site contains details on how to do that and a list of all providers who have completed this agreement, updated daily: https://www.wcb.ny.gov/CMS-1500/prerequisites.jsp
    • Good news: NY WCB allows you to use code 99080 to offset the cost of electronic submissions. Read more here: CMS-1500 Electronic Submission Cost Offset

Beginning September 1, all claims that are sent electronically with a WC or AM Claim Filing Indicator will be charged at $.66 per claim. WC or AM claims that are sent via mail will be charged $1.10 per claim. Attachments pricing remains the same.
